This was announced in our November E-Journal as well, but I wanted to put another announcement here, especially for prospective parents:

Quote:
Are you a parent to a new or upcoming Kolbe high school student? Does the idea of having your student read the Great Books make you run away in fear? Kolbe parents, Barbara McNiff and Jennifer Naughton, offer an online group to help current and prospective parents learn the Classics that are integrated into Kolbe's curriculum. If you are interested, you may join the group by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kolbeparentslearntheclassics. If you are a veteran parent and are interested in assisting with moderating the group, please email Barbara at jkmbem at hughes.net .

No absolutely not! The idea here is for parents to have read the books at some point before their kids have to read them. If I were doing it, spreading it out over 8 years would be nice (maybe doing 1-2 subjects at a time).

There are several people on the list whose children are not yet in High School. In fact, it is optimal to read these books for the first time before your children get there. Please feel free to follow the yahoo link and join. We'd love to have you!

God Bless you! This sounds great, however, I went into the link and yahoo said there were no groups with that name. Could I be enlightened, or helped? I realize it could be me, as I am not so computer literate. Thanks.

i think there was a period at the end of the link above that may have sent you to the wrong place.

Please join us for a speedy run through The Aeneid and an attempt to cover a bit of Livy this July. This won't be an in depth approach just a quick overview to encourage familiarity.
